Our 2016 exhibition, Unforgettable
opens on the 5th of March and will run until the 5th of November. Historic Welsh Quilts and Costume from the collections of Ron Simpson, Jen Jones, and the Ceredigion Museum will take centre stage in the dramatic Courtroom Gallery. As always the exhibition will be designed by Gwenllian Ashley. Featured are the strikingly bold 19th century Welsh Flannel Patchwork Quilts and the quintessential Welsh Hat.
In Gallery 2, we are delighted to showcase new work by eminent quilter Sandie Lush. Jen Jones and Sandie Lush have collaborated for many years, with Sandie exhibiting her work and running annual quilting workshops at The Welsh Quilt Centre.
Gallery 3 is home to shorter exhibitions, lasting 6-8 weeks from an array of artists with a diverse range of work. The delicate work of artist Valeriane Leblond will be the first exhibition in Gallery 3. Valeriane’s work is heavily influenced by the hills of mid Wales, the cliffs and beaches of Cardigan Bay and in many of her paintings, images of Welsh quilts from The Jen Jones Collection are featured. Each exhibition in Gallery 3 will be varied ranging from the embroidery and textile work of OTT O2 Textiles, the funky felt-work of Ruth Packham, and Ruth Jên Evans’ ‘Welsh Ladies’.
