SASHA KAGAN - KNITWEAR
We are honoured to be exhibiting the designs of Caersws based artist Sasha Kagan in Gallery Three from Tuesday September 5th to Saturday 14th October 2017
Sasha Kagan is a hand knit designer and maker of Fine Art textiles. She trained as a painter and printmaker at the Royal College of Art and has run her own business for 40 years while writing 7 books and teaching internationally. A pioneer in the Knitwear Revolution of the 1970s she has long been an advocate of pieces made by the human hand. Her versatile repertoire of geometric, ethnic, abstract and nature inspired designs aim to give pleasure to knit and wear, her use of colour and texture immediately recognisable.
Her unique hand knit pieces are in many collections and have been widely exhibited including an exhibition at The Victoria and Albert museum and a travelling retrospective in 2010-12, My Life in Textiles - 4 Decades of Hand Knit Design.
She is currently working on her 8th book, Pattern Inspiration. Her mission is to elevate the craft of hand knitting into a recognised art form
The exhibition is free and open from 5th September to October 14th 2017. The Quilt Centre is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11.00am – 4.30pm.
