The Jen Jones Challenge 2016

fulll circle quilt image selection

Are You Ready for the Jen Jones Quilt Challenge?

The Jen Jones Collection is full of inspirational ideas and quilts. The quilts in Gallery Two this year were all inspired by a single quilt in Jen’s collection and were made by one quilter. Taking this idea further, we are thinking how wonderful it would be to have a gallery full of quilts made by others who have also taken inspiration from Jen’s quilts. With that in mind, we have decided to issue a challenge to all quilters to make a small quilt inspired by any quilt (or aspect of a quilt) in Jen’s collection.

What You Need to Do

You are invited to submit a photograph of your work* together with short description of its size, how you were inspired and which quilt fired your imagination. The only limitation is that quilts should have no side longer than 1 metre. Winning quilts will be exhibited at the Welsh Quilt Centre in Gallery Two from March – November 2017; therefore work must be available for hanging from the beginning of February 2017 until the close of the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition there will be a small prize for the quilt voted Viewer’s Choice by visitors throughout the season.

Choosing the Winners

The maker of each quilt selected will be given a free entry to the Quilt Centre. Closing date for entries is November 5th 2016. Winners will be notified by the end of December 2016. *We will accept photographs of ‘works in progress’ but if accepted, please ensure that the piece will be finished in time.
